Muslim Sports Network is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of our volunteer, Afsar Choudhury, who completed an Ironman France 2026 after the official event was cancelled. Refusing to let months of preparation go to waste, Afsar took on the full challenge alone—swimming 3.8km in open water without lifeguards or rescue support, cycling 180km on open roads in temperatures reaching 38°C, and finishing with a full marathon without the aid stations, marshals, or race infrastructure normally relied upon by athletes. Despite these extraordinary conditions, he crossed the finish line in an impressive 16 hours, 3 minutes and 40 seconds.
Reflecting on the experience, Afsar said: “I realised what I’d just achieved and the circumstances in which it had been done. I can finally say it… I AM AN IRONMAN. Alhamdulillah for everything.” His determination, resilience and self-belief reflect the very qualities that Muslim Sports Network seeks to nurture through sport and personal development.
