Frequently Asked Question
Is the event suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! You don’t need to be an experienced runner to take part. All you need is the willingness to get involved and have an incredible experience.
This event welcomes participants of all fitness levels, whether you plan to walk, jog, or run the entire route. Many of our participants take part for the first time and go on to say it’s one of the most rewarding things they’ve ever done. The atmosphere is supportive, the scenery is stunning, and every step you take makes a real difference, so don’t let experience hold you back.
What if I don't hit my fundraising target?
Don’t worry — fundraising can feel daunting at first, but you won’t be doing it alone. We will be with you every step of the way, providing support, guidance, and fundraising tips to help you reach your goal. From social media ideas to personalised fundraising pages, we’ll make sure you have everything you need to succeed.
Please do keep in mind that a minimum of 80% of your fundraising target must be reached before you fly out to Marrakech. This ensures that the vital funds needed to support Blackstone Charity’s Street Children Campaign are secured. However, we are fully committed to helping you get there, so if you’re finding it tough, reach out to us and we’ll work with you to make it happen. Many participants are surprised by how generous their friends, family, and colleagues can be once they hear about the incredible cause you’re running for!
What's not included in the registration?
While we work hard to make sure everything you need for a fantastic experience is taken care of, there are a few things that fall outside of your registration fee that you’ll need to plan for:
Travel Insurance — Travel insurance is not included and must be arranged independently before you travel. This is essential and we strongly recommend ensuring you are fully covered for the duration of the trip.
Lunch and Dinner — Whilst some meals may be provided, lunch and dinner are not included in your registration, giving you the freedom to explore Marrakech’s incredible food scene at your own leisure and budget.
Shopping and Personal Spending — Marrakech is famous for its vibrant souks and markets, so make sure you bring some extra spending money for any personal purchases, souvenirs, or experiences you’d like to enjoy along the way.
Additional Luggage — Each participant is entitled to one small cabin bag free of charge, with a maximum size of 45 × 36 × 20 cm. Any additional or oversized luggage will incur extra charges, so please pack accordingly and plan to avoid any unexpected costs at the airport.
If you have any questions about what is and isn’t included, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team, and we’ll be happy to help.
Can I join if I dont run the marathon?
Not at all! While the run is at the heart of the event, you absolutely don’t have to participate in it to be part of this incredible experience. Whether you’d prefer to walk, cheer on your fellow participants, or simply soak up the vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech, you are more than welcome to join us. Many people come along to show their support, enjoy the surroundings, and be part of something truly special without taking part in the run itself. It’s about community, connection, and coming together for an amazing cause, so however you choose to get involved, we’d love to have you there.
How easy is the Marathon route?
The Marrakech Marathon is generally considered an easy and fast course, making it a popular choice for first-time marathoners and runners chasing a personal best. The route is run entirely on paved roads through the city and surrounding palm groves, with wide, smooth streets and very few sharp turns. While the course is mostly flat, there are some gentle rolling sections and gradual inclines, with around 280m of total elevation gain across the marathon distance. Overall, the elevation changes are not significant, and combined with Marrakech’s typically mild January temperatures, the course offers favourable conditions for a strong run.
